Guyana’s Mashramini (festival after hard work)
on Saturday the 25th of February was celebrated with a bang at the Guyana Embassy
in Caracas Venezuela in the form of a Cocktail party with the presence of the Guyanese
students and members of other diplomatic bodies. Among the many present, was

the Guyanese students reside.
His Excellency the ambassador, Geoffrey Da
Silva was well pleased to host the event and stated that Guyana and Venezuela
are working on several projects to help strengthen the relations between said countries,
he added that the scholarship granted to the Guyanese students in the areas of tourism
and medicine are majour efforts shown by the Venezuela government expressing
their solidarity to Guyana and other south American countries. He further
mentioned that Guyana and Venezuela have barter relationships, where Venezuela
sells oil at a reduced rate to Guyana in exchange for rice which Guyana sells
to them at the world price.
On an occasion
previous to the Mashramini cocktail party held at the Caracas Embassy, the
Ambassador visited the students at the university (Escuela Latinoamericana de
Medicina, Dr. Salvador Allende) and was well impressed with the standard of the
institution and the level of education taught there. He congratulated the
director of the school for the job she does and expressed his interest in
further activities with the students and the school.
