Guyana’s Mashramini (festival after hard work) on Saturday the 25th of February was celebrated with a bang at the Guyana Embassy in Caracas Venezuela in the form of a Cocktail party with the presence of the Guyanese students and members of other diplomatic bodies. Among the many present, was the Jamaican ambassador who on a previous occasion visited the university where the Guyanese students reside. 
His Excellency the ambassador, Geoffrey Da Silva was well pleased to host the event and stated that Guyana and Venezuela are working on several projects to help strengthen the relations between said countries, he added that the scholarship granted to the Guyanese students in the areas of tourism and medicine are majour efforts shown by the Venezuela government expressing their solidarity to Guyana and other south American countries. He further mentioned that Guyana and Venezuela have barter relationships, where Venezuela sells oil at a reduced rate to Guyana in exchange for rice which Guyana sells to them at the world price. 
On an occasion previous to the Mashramini cocktail party held at the Caracas Embassy, the Ambassador visited the students at the university (Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, Dr. Salvador Allende) and was well impressed with the standard of the institution and the level of education taught there. He congratulated the director of the school for the job she does and expressed his interest in further activities with the students and the school.
